Eurotrash Bootleggers make $150 an HOUR on American Authors

Hokay, I tell you secret!

Eh? (should shrug). You Americans! So what! You know what I am saying?

What you care.

I take book and sell. So what? Is MY business, yes?

How I do? I copy books. PDF. Mobi. Epub. Kindle. Get off Internet. Steal from other bootleggers. Ha.

I go EBAY and their whore sister PAYPAL.

I get a dozen ID's. I sell. So?

English? I do not know much. I know:

THIS IS DIGITAL BOOK NO SHIPPING EMAIL DELIVERY

I put in all ad copy.

Then lookie what I do. I can make $150 ROYALTIES in an hour off all my different names.

All I do is send file in an email or send link to a GOOGLE cloud where I store it. Ha! Why not?

Listen my friend, I am clever, not like Americans! I use Americans!

Ha ha to you!

My Eurotrash friend has reasons to be cheerful.

Americans are NOT clever. They are a pretty apathetic lot. Publishers, fat cats in the best and worst of times, don't seem to care that much about piracy. They just pay authors less of an advance and cook the books on royalties.

Authors? The best-selling authors are guilty they make so much money. So live and let live to the Eurotrash parasites.

Rowling? She's busy TWEETING.

George R.R. Martin and E.L. James? They're too busy EATING.

Fact is, all the books you see below, pirated under various names, ALL with the same "THIS IS DIGITAL BOOK NO SHIPPING EMAIL DELIVERY" line, are making parasites fat.

They are helping to shutter Mom and Pop bookstores.

They are reducing library hours and closing libraries.

They are making it impossible for new writers to find an audience.

They are making it even MORE difficult for mid-catalog writers to make a decent living without being part-time, and spending most of their lives teaching brats in a junior college somewhere.

It was very easy for ME to dig up, within 15 minutes, all these Eurotrash bastards (mostly the same parasite using a variety of names and locations):

donmelt7240-4 - CHICAGO

datrenkamuli-0 LATVIA

stomanraingar_0 CYPRUS

pranavisoriu-0 LITHUANIA

vancealford246 NEW YORK

kurmangermi-0 LUXEMBOURG

kristoferunol-0 BULGARIA

zydrunasavini_0 LITHUANIA

aurimavansiuli0 LITHUANIA

martinuivo0 LIECHTENSTEIN

simavirbeli_0 LITHUANIA

savitertenul_0 CROATIA

The average title, such as HASHIMOTO'S PROTOCOL, will get 30 bidders pretty quickly, at $5.00 a book.

You'd like to make $150 in an hour? That's how.

Just copy an author's book and hoist it to EBAY, with help from PAYPAL.

Then count on CRAPATHY...the apathy whereby publishers would rather suck down a Starbucks latte during a 2 hour lunch than do what I did: spend 15 minutes checking a catch-phrase.

Another 15 minutes to send in takedowns to EBAY, and problem solved.

It's solved a lot more permanently if eBay gets takedown requests from companies, and not just via "report item" because it violates their terms. Report to VERO, and that's a more serious violation. After all, it requires an EXPERT to spend time processing the form, whereas any dope can remove a "Report Item" auction and send an innocuous form letter saying, "please don't violate our rules."

In my 15+ years of sending in VeRO (verified rights owner) forms on eBay on behalf of celebrity friends, I've always seen the abuses shrink to near nothing. The parasites get scared off when a light shines on them. It takes a minute for me to shut down a parasite's entire list. It takes them hours, even days to get a fresh bank account, Paypal account and eBay account. They give up.

They don't give up if they see CRAPATHY.

Our Eurotrash friend is delighted that the AUTHOR'S GUILD or WRITER'S GUILD or whoever these jerks are, will happily stand around at a BEA convention, pushing membership offers...which DON'T include "we will protect you against piracy."

Our Eurotrash friend laughs himself silly over how RICH AMERICANS don't care about being stolen from and used. Hell, Americans don't mind rat hair in their peanut butter, do they? Everything is "caveat emptor" in America. Let's not have government agencies working to hard on consumer protection issues. What, palm-reading and "psychics" are legal? Eh. Caveat emptor. And if you buy a forgery on eBay or get a Kindle or ePub file from somebody falsely CLAIMING he "owns" rights? EH! EH!

All it takes is an intern putting in a half hour a week. Nah.

It's fortunate there are some authors and some book lovers who DO report things to eBay because they have the time and the passion. It's unfortunate that some publishers don't do their part, and some authors would rather Tweet nonsense than take a stand against people pirating their own words.

And SO IT GOES, as my late friend Mr. Vonnegut put it.

Slobs in Lithuana, Croatia, Latvia...as well as RUSSIA of course, and SRI LANKA and even AUSTRALIA are happy to make easy money off Americans.

Whether it's 40 copies at $3 each, 20 at $6 each, or 30 at $5 each, that's money going to parasites, money that authors and publishers don't see, and remember, for every book stole'd, one ain't sold.

Ebay bidders get used to finding the latest best sellers and self-help books for a fraction of what legit download places like Amazon charge. They get used to the idea of enjoying hours, weeks, and months of reading WITHOUT BUYING A LEGIT BOOK.

The message the smug Eurotrash booksellers send is EAT DIRT.

They think American CRAPATHY means they won't be reported, or they think they are so much smarter than Americans, that even with their broken English, their multiple identities can't be found and they'll never be suspended.

The insanity here, is that you don't see mp3 files sold on eBay.

You don't see MOVIES being sold via download bootlegs.

You don't see MUSIC being sold via download bootlegs.

But BOOKS? The Publishing Industry is supposed to be literate and smart, but they aren't doing nearly enough to stamp out piracy on EBAY the way the music and movie people have.

Eternal vigilance pays off. The Sri Lanka cartel used to be huge on eBay. All it took was a few authors, a few dedicated vigilantes. It took some "buy and bust" procedures (reporting the download links to Paypal, filing for refunds) to blow the whistle on wiseguys who weren't overtly mentioning DIGITAL DOWNLOAD in an ad.

If the authors and publishers of the above books got in the game, the jerks listed above would be suspended faster and NOT come back.
