Woody Allen's book bounces to ARCADE and...SRI LANKA BOOTLEGGERS ON EBAY

Congrats, Woody.

Freedom of Speech still exists. Despite the cowards who crumbled over the hissy-fit extortion of Ronan "I won't let you publish MY shit anymore" Farrow, YOU found a new publisher. It's ARCADE, a company that is concerned with letting voices be heard. They also worry, as Stephen King does, about "who's next" to face unjust censorship and mob rule.

BUT...look who is getting robbed on EBAY...

TODAY, there were eight different scumbags from Sri Lanka and Morocco, professional thieves, getting new identities and PAYPAL accounts to bootleg Woody's book...and dozens of other books.

Oh yes, RONAN FARROW's latest, too:

How nice, paying as low as $2.49 or $2.99 for what Amazon and the others expect to get $9.99 or $11.99. How lovely, that somebody thinking of actually BUYING the real hardcover on EBAY, gets LURED AWAY by the promise of a cheap digital download (in ePub, Kindle and PDF formats).

Somehow, EBAY still does NOT take piracy too seriously. EBAY admits that digital piracy may be ignored if there's a lot of porn, gun, drug or other complaints going on. If you know there's a REPORT ITEM link in the ad, and you also know how to scroll through THREE different menus, it does NOT mean that the item you reported will actually be removed.

It's a bit ridiculous that low-life dirt-faced walnut-brained filth in Sri Lanka and Morocco can so easily get PAYPAL accounts and EBAY identities galore.

Oh: PAYPAL and EBAY get a percentage. Even if the weasel only charges $2.49, EBAY charges 35 cents to put the ad on their site and THEN takes a cut of the winning bid, and PAYPAL charges 50 cents or even 75 cents to process the sale.

PAYPAL doesn't make it easy to report things to them. EBAY does have "report item" but it has some dazed "English as second language" stooges overseas who don't seem to know an illegal ad when it's reported. EBAY not only has a rule against "digital downloads," it has a rule against "location misrepresentation." This applies to almost all these bootlegger ads, since these crud-mites try to allay bidder suspicion by pretending to be in New York or London when it's Sri Lanka or Morocco (which is easy to see if you click the seller's name and get MORE INFO). An eBay employee might not notice or care. The excuse: we get MILLIONS of complaints and PRIORITIZE them.

Here's a WEASEL from MOROCCO claiming (seller location) to be in CANADA.

It doesn't take Interpool to see the obvious chicanery from these inbred pea-brained monkeys. All they know is that, somehow, PAYPAL and EBAY keep letting them get fresh accounts.

They also know that THE GREAT GOD GOOGLE is their FRIEND. Not Allah. It's GOOGLE that is the WORST when it comes to allowing piracy. Their hoops are SLINKY-dense. Unlike EBAY, which does have a competent VeRO department to at least knock off auctions before too much damage can be done, GOOGLE makes it very difficult to get through to them. Their templates are deliberately complicated and time-consuming, whether a rights owner is filing against a BLOGGER, against a YOUTUBE creep, or against a vile mouth-breathing stinker who has gotten a GOOGLE CLOUD and uses it for the illegal downloads:

What's the answer? Book industry pressure on Internet abusers, and most certainly, more attention paid to PAYPAL and EBAY.

Technically, a hard-hitting hero like Ronan Farrow, who cares so much about morality, should have somebody on his vast staff checking EBAY for theft of his intellectual property and copyright. It takes exactly a MINUTE to file a DMCA to eBay's VeRO (verified rights owner) email address.

You'd also think that in these troubled times, publishing companies would want to make sure to get a royalty on EVERY sale. Some EBAY dealers charge as much as $7.99 for their bootleg, but even $2.49 is a damn good profit and in most cases, the author royalties are LESS on a legit download or even a paperback sale than what the EBAY bootlegger is getting.

You'd think that the publishing world, which is SUPPOSEDLY full of brighter people than the music world or the movie world, would know from the destruction of record stores and the emptying of movie theaters, that PIRACY KILLS...and BOOKSTORES (the ones still around) should NOT be teetering thanks to Internet abuse. Is the future of publishing really going to end up where AMAZON dictates the puny royalty they will give, the same way SPOTIFY flicks a few pennies for every THOUSAND downloads?

The answer is for RONAN and WOODY's publishers to do the minimum, and draft an unpaid intern to file DMCA's and get the bootleggers suspended ASAP. Instead, they're SAPS???

PS, EBAY...this is how your smelly Sri Lanka cartel creeps reward you: in EVERY download win, they include a PDF that tells bidders they DO NOT HAVE TO BUY ON EBAY EVER AGAIN, but instead can go to a website and get ANY book for $1.99 - direct from them and PAYPAL. Like any terrorist group from that part of the world, these filthy swine are very well organized:

Let's All Bootleg "THE TOPEKA SCHOOL" by BEN LERNER - craven dirt-faced EBAY weasels

Ebay's weasels always seem to get another name, or three, and go write back to screwing authors, publishers and bookstores. Also, the authorized websites that offer Kindle/Nook downloads.

Here's the same slimeball with THREE alias, all of them stealing from BEN LERNER (among others).

EBAY insists "we're just a venue," so people have to use "report item" and scroll around for "other" violations and then "digital downloads." Then hope that whoever sees it isn't asleep, or taking a mango-eating break.

To peasants from the Third World (who barely speak English and only know how to ape each other's ads) seem to think $2.99 is a lot of money. Well, if you're an author $2.99 might be your royalty for the hardcover book that somebody DIDN'T buy because the cheap one with the header PDF (or P.D.F. to try and get by the bots) is on it.

"Oh lookie, I can get a copy for only $2.99. Hell, that beats Kindle. And this fine, fine seller is claiming to have the right to sell it. What could be wrong?"

You'd think by now the major publishers would want to stop this piracy. It could help them make some money in times when most bookstores are shuttered, and they get chump change from Jeff Bezos on downloads.

How about protecting recent hardcover books like this one, from greedy, obnoxious, soulless assholes who pretend to be in America when they're more likely in Sri Lanka, Croatia, or some other armpit nation.

ALL three ads from ALL three of those fake-names had the SAME copy:

Ben Lerner's publisher is MacMillan. They have a somewhat confusing website, but if you hunt around, you'll find a "report piracy" page. However, they have a box to tick: AUTHOR or NOT. Many book companies only want to hear from the author. If a FAN wants to take five minutes to hand them all the information they need (name of book, name of author, URLS involved) they might or might NOT tell some intern to file the DMCA.

In this era where piracy is rampant, and unpaid interns are plentiful, there's no excuse for vermin from Sri Lanka to relentlessly skim off $2.99 ten or fifty or a hundred times before they get caught.

EBAY can do its part by making sure reports to "DIGITAL DOWNLOAD" are taken seriously, and ONE violation from a slimeball who has nothing but PDF downloads, should mean PERMANENT SUSPENSION and loss of PAYPAL.

Morocco Moles - filth Moroccan swine STEALING from AUTHORS via EBAY

Here's a few examples of where eBay sellers signed up. You notice...MOROCCO?

The devious Moroccan bootleg cartel doesn't put MOROCCO in the "ITEM LOCATION" part of their ads.

Here's an ad from slimy OMOU. You'll notice the ITEM LOCATION (under the line for SHIPPING): NORMAN OKLAHOMA.

This is to pretend that the dealer is legit, American, and must be truthful when putting in that crap about "I am eithe copyright owner or posting on behalf of the copyright owner."

Bidders think the author is getting a royalty. The author is NOT.

Click the seller's name and the truth is revealed:

Here's another filthy Moroccan. The item location is NEW YORK:

Here's the typical ad babble from a moronic Moroccan:

This kind of crap should not lead EBAY personnel to pretend to be Sgt. Schultz and shout "I know nnnuthing...I see nnnnuthing wrong..."

For one thing, their own RULES state that digital downloads are VERBOTEN.

Their own RULES state that the item location in an ad must NOT be a lie.

There is no excuse to ignore this. "We are just a venue" means it's up to others to report items. Fine. Once an item is reported, IT SHOULD BE REMOVED. There shouldn't be another excuse of "We get too many reports to process" or "Some of our employees don't quite know what to look for."

As stupid and illiterate as Moroccans are, they know some tricks. One of them is using an AMERICAN-sounding seller name. Like NETFLIXING. They can't hide where they signed up, but they try to hide ITEM LOCATION when they hoist the ad. This is a dumb loophole that EBAY should STOP.

The location the seller used for signing up SHOULD be the item location in the ad. Bidders should NOT be fooled into thinking they are dealing with an American who somehow has a deal to sell an American author's books in cheap PDF format.

Technically, eBay TERMS OF SERVICE state that a seller can NOT lie about the item location. This seller does.

This should be immediate grounds for SUSPENSION, considering the seller is also breaking eBay's rules about selling illegal digital downloads — PDF counterfeit dupes.

EBAY has simply not been taking this problem seriously.

In doing that, they have moved beyond "we're just a venue, we can't monitor everything" to obstruction of justice, tortuous interference with copyright, and deliberate abuse. When eBay phone support says "yes, this IS a violation of our rules, the seller's item will be removed" and it IS NOT, that's ABUSE.

When eBay has a "REPORT ITEM" link but conveniently hires minimum wage English-as-second-language termites in the Far East, who either don't have time for every complaint or ignore these complaints, it becomes ABUSE.

The dirty Moroccans couldn't string two sentences together that would make any sense, but they know how to parrot each other's ads, and get happy bidders to leave them positives...bidders who may not understand that they are aiding and abetting THIEVERY and have received STOLEN PROPERTY.

EBAY is primarily to blame because it would be easy enough to quickly suspend these sellers, and to pay attention to complaints.

The rest of the blame goes to idiots like Dean Koontz and pudgy E.L. James and the rest of the best selling authors who should not only be looking out for themselves, and looking out for the publishers who might give them LESS of an advance next time, but also caring about fellow writers and LIBRARIES.

LIBRARIES are going to go the way of the dodo if people can easily get an entire author's works for $7.99, less than the price of ONE legit Kindle (Amazon) or EPub (Barnes and Noble) edition.

Authors and book companies must join the VERO program (vero@ebay.com) and once a week check on their book titles. Take FIVE minutes a week. It's simple. I know that for a fact. I'm in the VERO program.

EBAY also needs to respect the VERO department at eBay more, and take seriously when they report a seller to RISK MANAGEMENT and TRUST and SAFETY. When an obvious Moroccan thief is caught by even ONE VeRO rep on ONE book title, VeRO should point out that this is grounds for suspension. This would shut down the Moroccan cartel and all the others who do nothing but post PDF file auctions.

EBAY needs to understand that AMAZON and BARNES & NOBLE and all the book publishers and authors have a right to make an honest living, and that the maggots and parasites and termites from Sri Lanka, Morocco, the Russian Federation and other pest holes, need to be SHUT DOWN. FAST.

RUSSIA COLLUSION WITH EBAY - TO RUIN USA PUBLISHERS

Ah, Comrade.

Here's how EBAY COLLUDES WITH RUSSIA FOR PEDOPHILE FUN and MAGAZINE PROFIT.

Just put up a blatant ad that mentions PDF format (illegal) and even use PDF in the seller ID.

American teenage girls can be sex slaves to PUTIN. Why not?

EBAY could very easily filter auctions that mention PDF and magazine titles or book titles.

They haven't done it yet.

An eBay worker mentioned, "We're aware of the problem. It just takes...time."

Time to figure out that an auction for "BARELY LEGAL" mentioning PDF should be shut down?

"Oh, well, some sellers would put P D F with spaces. So the filter would be foiled."

Better to not do anything.

What's worse, EBAY employees who check "REPORT ITEM" and "Listings Violation - Digital Download" seem to be in Guam somewhere, don't speak English, don't know what they're looking for, can't read an ad, and can also claim to be way too overworked to even read half of what's reported to them.

MEANWHILE, the Russians are not only stealing sex magazines...they're sealing ALL magazines.

EBAY doesn't want to get all of the magazine publishers in America mad at them. DO THEY?

Isn't it simply UN-AMERICAN to let jerks in Russia write arrogant ads full of threats and warnings?

Like, don't complain about our items "YOU SAW WHAT YOU ARE BUYING. NO REFUNDS!"

It isn't bad enough that TORRENTS are flinging books and magazines around in PDF format?

Most normal people don't know about this, or don't want to risk downloading from a torrent and getting caught. But here's EBAY, the biggest auction site in the world, one of the biggest websites in the world, and they're letting RUSSIANS sell off American magazines. For next to nothing.

This is not good for the American economy, COMRADES.

SRI LANKA is bootlegger land. Sri Lankans are THIEVES ON EBAY

"Yes," an eBay rep told me on the phone today, "we're taking measures on the book counterfeiting. We noticed a spike in this around last Christmas. It's hard to put in the filters to stop it, but it IS something we're aware of."

Are they aware that easily 80% of the book bootlegging on eBAY is from SRI LANKA?

Some of them are devious enough to pretend they are not. Like THIS dirty Sri Lankan prick:

You noticed that for ITEM LOCATION, the dirty prick put: KADAWATHA, UNITED STATES.

No, there is no such city or state in the United States. But a click of the user ID reveals the truth:

It would be easy enough for eBay to SERIOUSLY understand the gravity of this situation and take action.

Take action?

For a start, monitor anyone signing up from SRI LANKA. These Sri Lankan bastards get multiple identities and come back faster than roaches.

Here's another:

The Sri Lankan cartel routinely mentions in ads that bidders should not only check the 100 or so items they are offering, but contact them for MORE. After all, if it's a PDF file they can easily find one on an illegal torrent, download it, and sell it. OFF eBay. ANY author who has published a book that is in Kindle or Nook format is at risk of losing THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS.

What's going on over there in that God-forsaken dirt hole? When the religious fanatics aren't killing each other over whose imaginary friend is best, they have nothing better to do than torture and financially rape authors?

SRI LANKA is a nation of AUTHOR KILLERS.

EBAY claims to know all about this.

But "wait...wait..." they're being outsmarted by jerks who barely know how to urinate in a toilet?

There IS a very strong legal line between "we're just a venue" and OBSTRUCTION OF JUSTICE.

There IS a very strong legal line between shrugging about a problem and DOING NOTHING when the problem is reported.

When eBay personnel don't respond to a "Report Item" complaint, and when eBay phone support says "not to worry, I will see that this seller is suspended," and NOTHING HAPPENS, then we have reason for a lawsuit.

A MASSIVE LAWSUIT.

What is going on becomes willful misconduct.

The difference between "we're just a venue" and "we're not complying with DMCA's and we're not removing auctions even when they are obviously violating our Terms of Service...." is WILLFUL MISCONDUCT.

EBAY nees to use simple technology to red flag ANY auction that mentions EPUB, KINDLE, PDF, or idiot English-as-second-language catch phrases like "not real book, you get ebook by email."

Ebay must suspend ANY seller who parrots this phrase:

"Attention eBay Staff: I am an Authorized Reseller of this product & also the copyright holder or I have resale rights to this ebook or item. Full Resell Rights are Granted by the copyright owners to sell these E-books with Resell Rights or Master Resell Rights Granted."

This and similar babble come from these monkey-brains in Sri Lanka all the time. SRI LANKANS. BOOK THIEVES. Do they know ANYTHING ELSE?

They are a stupid bunch of people who are stealing from writers and publishers AND from Apple and Amazon, powerful companies who sell LEGITIMATE eBooks.

The abuse MUST STOP.

Here's another typical dirty Sri Lankan prick's auction:

Every day you'll find a dozen of these SRI LANKAN scumbags screwing authors and publishers.

They are taking money away from LEGITIMATE eBay sellers who have real books to sell.

People type in an author and are going to buy a used or new copy, and they see this BARGAIN for their Kindle or Nook: the ENTIRE COLLECTION of an AUTHOR for less than the price of one used hardcover!

There are thrift shops and charity shops who can't even get a book sale for ONE CENT plus $3.99 shipping, because of these SRI LANKAN BASTARDS.

Here's just a partial list of what authors THIS Sri Lankan bastard is fucking:

The epidemic extends to magazines as well.

. Terry Brooks: Shannara series eBook Collection 25+ books Fantasy epub mobi pdf

David Eddings Historical eBook Collection 27 Books

John Ringo ebook 20+ collection (epub & mobi )

John Norman Gor Series eBook Collection 30 books (epub, mobi)

Andrzej Sapkowski: The Witcher series eBook Collection (epub, mobi)

L.E. Modesitt Jr. Fantasy eBook Collection 50+ books (epub, mobi)

Catherine Coulter Thriller eBook Collection (epub, mobi)

Ben Bova eBook Science Fiction Fantasy Collection 100+ books (epub & mobi )

Daniel Silva ebook Collection 15 books(epub & mobi )

Maggie Shayne Fantasy 40+ books Ebook Collection (epub mobi)

and on and on and on.

ENTIRE collections of EVERY book for $5.99 to $9.99.

All of these Sri Lankan pests use GOOGLE CLOUDS to send an e-mail and then take the money.

Authors work very hard and most are not paid very well.

Eroding sales by taking all the best selling books does NOT help ANY author survive, nor does it help the libraries that are trying to entice people to come in and BORROW books for FREE.

The Sri Lankan banana-eaters could care less. They are selfish stupid and have no morality. They are the SCUM of the planet.

It should be a simple matter for eBay to RED FLAG auctions that have EPUB and MOBI in the title.

It should be a PRIORITY in the VERO program that once any author or author's rep files a DMCA on one of these Sri Lankan sewer rats, that seller is SUSPENDED.

It's WAY too easy for the bootleggers to come back.

EBAY needs to do MUCH better on this. AMAZON kindle and BARNES & NOBLE nook sales should be protected.

Libraries should be protected.

And eBay bidders should NOT be tricked into thinking a Sri Lankan dimwit peasant fly-covered louse is the "COPYRIGHT OWNER" or is "AUTHORIZED" to sell PDF files using a GOOGLE CLOUD.

A Typical SRI LANKA book thief abusing Top 25 Authors with a DICK of a CAVEAT

Can you imagine walking into Barnes & Noble and leaving with bags full of unpaid books?

You tell the security guard:

"The authors all know me, and told me I could have copies free."

The security guard: "Oh. I'm JUST a security guard. I have no idea if you're telling the truth. Pass, friend."

RIDICULUOS?

This is what goes on at EBAY.

Some book thief in SRI LANKA uses a caveat in his ads — one used by a dozen other Sri Lanka book thieves — and EBAY doesn't challenge it. Then he rips off DOZENS of authors and pockets HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS.

EASY MONEY.

Here's a typical auction, up RIGHT NOW:

Could anything be more ABSURD?

Some jerk in Sri Lanka, offering the ENTIRE output of HARLAN COBAN for less than the price of ONE PAPERBACK, and EBAY nods like a dumb cartoon dog. "Yup, yup, looks ok to US."

Some jerk in Sri Lanka somehow has "Full Resell Rights" from 25 best selling authors?

Some jerk in Sri Lanka covers himself by saying he is EITHER the "Authorized Re-seller" or "the copyright holder" for 100's of books by 25 different famous writers? THESE WRITERS...

Insanity Number ONE:

If this seller was offering used underwear, and wrote: "These will be cleaned before sending them," the auction would end. If this seller was offering opium, and wrote, "In my country it is legal, and I am authorized to export it to America," the auction would end.

Blatantly abuse copyright, and EBAY is like Sgt. Schultz in "Hogan's Heroes" and "knows nnnnnnuthing. NNNNNNNUTHING."

They conveniently point to the lax DMCA rules in America, which state that their website is "just a vehicle" and they have NO obligation to do anything about ads on their site unless they feel like it. OR, if a copyright owner sends in a takedown request.

Insanity Number TWO:

NONE of the authors or their publishers have sent in takedown requests! Just why that is, is a big mystery. Apathy? Incompetence?

Companies that specialize in takedowns, such as DIGIMARC and WEB SHERIFF charge for their services. They charge too much? In that case, why not have an intern check eBay, the most HIGH PROFILE sales site other than Amazon, and knock these sellers off?

Having some 20 years experience in eBay's VERO program, I know that it's very simple to send in a takedown. It takes only a few minutes. Sellers get suspended if they get more than a few takedowns.

There are only a few major publishers left. The seller with 25 items above would be GONE almost instantly if ONE publisher objected.

An RIAA-type takedown specialist representing ALL the major publishers could end this abuse, and keep it under control in less than an hour a week. Isn't it worth it?

And yet the publishers can't get it together. They resist having easy ways to contact them. Only a few have a website with a "report piracy" link, and it seems pretty obvious that if the major authors such as Stephen King and Harlan Coben and Diana Gabaldon and J.K. Rowling and pudgy E.L. James etc. are letting Sri Lanka book thieves amass hundreds of dollars in sales each week, SOMEBODY is being very lax. SOMEBODY is sending the message that book publishers are filthy rich, that Barnes & Noble and bookstores don't need protection, that Barnes & Noble's ePub sales and Amazon's Kindle sales don't need protection, and that the literary minds of the world have no clue about morality. Even if you ARE rich, you don't let somebody claim to OWN your copyright. You don't reward somebody who can barely speak English for copying a DICK of a CAVEAT and lying so obviously.

When the music world first noticed mp3 piracy, everyone shrugged. Now, there are only a few major labels, there's almost no "mid-list," and they rely on the huge sellers to carry them. Indie labels pay nothing and the artists can't make a living on music sales.

The publishing world, which should be a bit smarter, is waiting for MORE bookstores and libraries to close? Waiting for more people who buy cheap copies on EBAY to then "share" this stuff with their friends? Or with strangers on the Internet?

Savvy cheapskates know all about the hidden torrents, forums, and Google's infamous BLOGSPOT blogs, but the average person doesn't. The average person knows that EBAY is a good place to get a used book, a promo copy, and..."well, what's this...a seller offering ALL my author's books, and for less than the price of a paperback! The seller claims to be AUTHORIZED by the AUTHOR. Why, the seller might even BE the author. Why should I clutter my shelves when I can put these on my Kindle, Nook or laptop? What a deal!"

And yes, some of them even leave glowing positives for these sellers. And guess what, a few negatives don't bother the dealers OR eBay at all. For example, THIS seller:

Time for an "RIAA" for Book Publishers - to deal with EBAY BOOTLEGGING

Ebay bootleggers know that many people have NO IDEA there's thievery via cheap illegal downloads.

Both authors and publishers are losing A LOT OF MONEY to jerks like THIS:

Bidders think the LIES in this ad are TRUTH. Ebay shrugs and says "We don't know if he's lying or not. And we're "just a venue" and U.S. laws are WEAK, so WE DON'T HAVE TO ASK HIM TO SHOW US HIS LICENSING AGREEMENTS.

This seller DARES to say:

"I am an Authorized Reseller of this product and also have resale rights to this eBook. Full Resell Rights are granted by the copyright owners to sell these E-books with Resell Rights. This ad is in compliance with all eBay rules and regulations."

BULLSHIT.

Who else is this parasite stealing from? EVERYBODY. This is just a few:

What's the excuse? That DAVID BALDACCI, RICK RIORDAN, DEAN KOONTZ, and pudgy E.L. JAMES and the others DON'T need the money?

That some jerk should take the royalties instead?

The more that's STOLE'D the less that's SOLD. While people are happily filling their KINDLE and NOOK readers with ILLEGAL COPIES, they are NOT supporting libraries. They are NOT supporting publishers who need to find the NEXT best-selling author. They are NOT supporting Mom and Pop bookstores. They are NOT supporting Kindle or Nook who MIGHT pay a little more if the market wasn't ruined by piracy.

It's getting easier and easier to copy off ebooks, and more and more people want that format. The publishing world should learn from what happened to the music industry, and PROTECT COPYRIGHT, and not wait till the stores shut down and they have to rely on a few best-selling artists and turn their backs on thousands of other authors and on readers who want variety and books that aren't self-printed pieces of crap full of typos.

Since most people don't know about the torrents and forums where weasels "share" books, the BIGGEST PLACE FOR BOOTLEG COPIES is EBAY.

The only reason there's so much bootlegging on EBAY is that publishers don't want to spend money on a WEB SHERIFF to file a DMCA. They shrug and tell the authors, YOU do it. It's YOUR book. The authors have no idea their books are being ripped off, and have no idea how to become a VERO (Verified Rights Owner) member on eBAY and send in a DMCA.

Actually, sending in a DMCA on EBAY is easy. There are no hoops (like Google has with their BLOGSPOT and YOUTUBE). You just cut and paste the auction number and email it.

Bootleggers thrive because eBay only slaps their wrist if ONE or TWO publishers or authors make a complaint. As in: "We know nnnnnuthing, nnnnuthing, and we can't be sure that our seller's other 50 or 100 titles are illegal JUST BECAUSE we got TWO complaints."

THE ANSWER:

An "RIAA" for Book Publishers...specifically, an office, or even ONE PERSON...who can file complaints on behalf of ALL major publishers, and shut down ALL the sellers.

EVERY AUTHOR IS AT RISK. LOOK AT THIS:

How about THIS...a weasel who is offering EVERY AUTHOR and EVERY PUBLISHER whose titles are in the Reese Witherspoon Book Club:

It's GRAND LARCENY EVERY DAY.

It does NOT have to be this way. Not on a high profile site such as EBAY, who can't hide from copyright law by operating in Croatia or the Ukraine or on an island in the Pacific.

I know from experience, as a VERO rep for a dozen celebrities, that this is not "whack-a-mole." Sellers who get suspended can't easily get a new bank account, a new Paypal account, change their ISP location, and return. If they do, a good VeRO rep spots them instantly and they go down again, and they know it's too time-consuming to try again.

THE Winston Graham bootlegger (also abusing Baldacci, Stephen King, pudgy E.L. James, etc) is such a stinking parasite weasel, he's willing to mail a CD-R disc for fifty cents, and give EBAY and PAYPAL fifty cents, just to make TWO BUCKS per book. Well, hell, it's FOUND MONEY for him. It beats clipping coupons. And he can rationalize that bigshot publishers are making SO MUCH MONEY they aren't even sending in DMCAs on him.

Let's CHANGE THAT.

One good VeRO rep can spot all the devious tricks these sellers try. One wrong word in an ad ("download" or "ebook") matched with the name of a famous book or author, and that is IT.

If we have a United Nations, we should have a UNITED front for publishers. The stakes are high. Most publishers have incompetent and inefficient "templates" for people to "report piracy" and any email address authors use is also prone to neglect. Complaints right now are largely ignored. Most rights owners who get an email sent to their legal department, an editor, or a publicist, send a form letter: "Thank you for your concern. We are taking the appropriate action." Which is going out for a two hour lunch.

The answer to the EBAY problem is ONE VERO REP authorized to send in DMCA's. EBAY allows for more than one VeRO rep, so individual authors and publishers can STILL get in the game if they want. But the security is having ONE VERO REP who can take down an entire line a seller is offering.

Is this logical?

Or is the answer CRAPATHY and "we're taking the appropriate action."
