ANY Author can be a Bootleg Victim on EBAY

Well, well, Ebay, where they are all like big fat Sgt. Schultz from "Hogan's Heroes."

They know nnnrnnnnuthing. Until it's point out. By somebody who filled out forms and jumped through all their hoops.

ANY BOOK. Heh heh.

If you're an author, and your book is selling in a Kindle or Nook version, it's quite likely it's been leaked to an Internet torrent or to forums.

The good news is that torrents and forums are sneaky places that most people know little about.

The bad news is most people know EBAY, and that it's a good place to find a cheap new or used copy of a book. A bidder types in a name, sees "digital version" or "ebook" after the title, reads "I am a licensed reseller," and buys.

Ebay is so eager for sales, they throw ads all over their pages, and ads like THIS one instantly turn up, letting a bidder know that just about ANY book is fair game.

There are quite a few weasels like this, almost all of them BRITISH, who play this game. See the entry below.

Ah, but THIS dealer, who claims to be located in the United Kingdom, is actually in LATVIA:

Paying attention? Did you note the gMail address of this bastard? A good VeRO rep pays attention. (Penguin/Random House doesn't have a VeRO rep at all do they? Do they have a blind one?).

Note that the zapizx G MAIL address used by the seller SUERTEMAN, turns up in the seller ID of ZAPIZX888, ANOTHER bootlegger. Or rather, the SAME creep with another account:

What a surprise, eBay and PayPal allow a seller multiple accounts to commit the same FRAUD.

They have been known to allow the same prick (in Florida, Sri Lanka, U.K., Latvia, anywhere) to have a whole bunch of accounts all selling the same items. After takedown after takedown after takedown, a seller might get suspended....but only under ONE account. The others remain! Ebay supposedly does not allow a suspended seller to have a second account, especially one selling the same item. But who do you report this to? The VeRO program says they are not in charge of suspensions, just removing specific auctions. They will NOT give out the email address of whoever is in charge of suspensions.

If you call eBay's phone support, you'll get somebody in Latvia, Sri Lanka, Cambodia...who the hell knows where...and that person will say "Not to worry, I will forward this!" And nothing happens. Ask them if they know where they are forwarding it, and if they know the NAME of the person, and they get evasive. "Not to worry...I understand...Not to worry...I will forward this!"

Yes, a seller who is obviously breaking the law not only doesn't have to worry about an eBAY rep looking through auctions to find him, he doesn't have to worry if he's caught over and over, or is breaking eBay's rules on a suspended seller having another identity. Or PayPal rules on fraud.

Why do some of these foreign swine pretend to be in the UK or USA?

If this Slime put down "LATVIA" for item location, it would be easier for a VeRO rep to red-flag him as a bootlegger. Also, it might lose sales, since some bidders don't trust getting an item by mail from LATVIA.

What deals these parasites have: for only GBP 5.99 ($7.65 if you're ordering from the United States) you can get EVERY George R.R. Martin book, or Rowling, or pudgy E.L. James, or Christine Feehan or anyone else. Every Agatha Christie? Sure.

People buy an item like this, thinking the "GNP" is somehow real, and these things aren't bootlegs that cheat the authors, and they're set for months, if not a year. That's a year of NOT buying a real copy of a book and helping an author or the economy or a book store. Or keeping a library open.

Instead, the money goes into the greedy pocket of a Latvian bastard, PAYPAL and EBAY.

Why should PAYPAL and EBAY be eager to NOT make a percentage of a sale? That's why they make it so difficult to report anything, and why they happily hide behind the filthy skirt of the DMCA law, which says they don't even HAVE to have ONE employee monitoring crap like this.

Yes, the Latvian maggot has an alias, too:

But there's plenty more of these cheap nickel and dime parasites. Here's another guy ready to screw authors like hundreds of men screwed his whore mother before he crawled out of her.

Notice how this ad shows people with their arms in the air, holding up COPYRIGHT BOOKS as if they're NOT copyrighted and should be copied off for pennies?

To me, that picture looks close to a LYNCHING photo, where the angry villagers wave their pitchforks and the MOB rules.

It looks like rally in a Communist Square, where authors are told to get to a Gulag if they don't work for the good of the people and renounce Capitalist notions like getting paid for every book sold.

It's very much like the way obnoxious Internet bullies constantly get new fake identities to hoist bootlegs to forums and torrents while screaming "Freedom of Speech...music, movies and books should be FREE FOR ALL."

The creeps who grab every book and shrug that they have every right to distribute whatever they want, should take the locks off the doors, and let their neighbors re-distribute every possession they own.

"I'm a GNU" - The obnoxious selfish stupid BRITISH TWIT PARASITES

Only from ENGLAND.

It's BRITISH sellers on EBAY who offer ads, available not just via eBay.co.uk but to all bidders worldwide, to SCREW authors and turn them into lackeys and slaves, like they did when they invaded Africa and India.

Yes, as disgusting as the Sri Lankan pigs are, as repulsive as the redneck Georgia jackasses are, leave it to the BRITISH to be absolutely pompous bastards when it comes to bootlegging.

ONLY the Brits DARE to insist that their thievery is OK because of the "GNU" or, get this, because "MY ITEMS…HAVE BEEN COLLECTED AND COMPILED BY ME”

Well, LAH DEE DAH.

Here are examples of what's going on with these BRIT-SHITS.

Some of their crap is even "sponsored" on eBay, meaning that when you accidentally come across some little criminal offering epub and mobi and kindle, you'll see an ad urging you to check out the EVEN BIGGER and more pretentious and nasty BRITISH thieves.

LIKE THESE WORTHIES:

These maggot-like BRIT-SHITS are competing with each other, swiping eBooks off torrents run by Russian and Swedish thugs, and boring them to DVDs.

They used to offer "The Times Best Seller List" for 10 pounds. Then it became "Here's 10,000 ebooks" for 10 pounds. Now it's 50,000 ebooks, and for LESS than the price of buying ONE NEW HARDCOVER.

What a bargain.

Illiterate Slimey-Limeys who can barely write their own names, are pompously tossing away the life's work of authors. Yes, they'll sell EVERY Stephen King book, EVERY George R.R. Martin, EVERY J.K. Rowling, and literally THOUSANDS more. A novel somebody worked years and years to write is a blip on a DVD-R and being given away for tuppence.

What the hell do THEY care? These toffee-nosed pretentious self-entitled shits prance about pretending an idiotic caveat about the GNY protects them: "By purchasing this item you are agreeing to the following terms & conditions and agree that such conditions are reasonable and fair under English law. If you do not agree to these terms then please do not purchase this item. For some software supplied the individual installer is distributed globally under the terms of the GNU Public License, the GNU Lesser General Public License (LGPL) or the Mozilla Public License...."

There's usually some ridiculous line about how the copyright and trademarks "belong to the owners." Meaning, THESE worthies are stealing and copying material but, they aren't claiming to OWN THE RIGHTS. Figure that one out.

Like the spoiled children they were at 8, these BRIT-SHITS will come up with any excuse to put their filthy English hands in the biscuit jar and TAKE TAKE TAKE TAKE TAKE.

They are a DISGRACE TO THE UNITED KINGDOM, the birthplace of SHAKESPEARE.

Do they care that if somebody gets 50,000 eBooks, that person is set for life, and will NEVER buy a book? Will NEVER go to a library? Will NEVER support authors, publishers, bookstores, or institutes of learning? That for every book STOLE'D it's preventing one from being SOLD?

The Slimey-Limeys never list all the books they are stealing. They think it protects them against individual authors demanding a takedown. No, it doesn't.

It might stop assholes like Penguin/Random House but only because they aren't looking. The Penguins keep their beaks in the sand or up their asses.

Here's a typical Slimey-Limey who even puts his excuse for NOT listing the books in his AD:

It's a sad situation when Great Britain, where the ENGLISH LANGUAGE was born, is home to craven, stinking, disgusting, bloody-minded little SHITS who come up with inane excuses to steal from authors and publishers.

It's also pathetic that eBay.co.uk would require authors to officially jump through hoops and submit takedown requests because they don't think these obvious fraudulent listings are in violation of any law. "We don't know," they seem to say, "we've got the dirty DMCA knickers to hide in. We need somebody to tell us right for wrong. Isn't the GNU legitimate? We're surely not going to ask sellers to show us licensing, list the books they're stealing, or do anything to prevent US from getting a few pennies from these sales."

What IS this, Fagin and his band of little thieves? EBAY has major offices in England and a major website, and they act like a foul body-odorous FAGIN, presiding over a bunch of snots.

The Slimey-Limey Brigade. What's their excuse? The Sri Lankan cartel at least can claim to be a poor bunch of sods who eat flies and spiders and live in a country of pestilence and neglect. Is that what ENGLAND is like now? The excuse for stealing from authors is that some ponce needs a bit more jam on his scone, and helping to destroy the publishing world is his way of getting what he wants?

PAYPAL and EBAY reward the Sri Lanka Parasite who CHEATS THEM and AUTHORS

What happens when a Sri Lanka parasite sells a bootleg on EBAY? And is PAID through PAYPAL?

The dirty ingrate swine sends an e-mail that basically says: "FUCK EBAY, BUY DIRECT! I CAN GIVE YOU CHEAP ACCESS TO ANY BOOK YOU WANT, EVEN BOOKS PROTECTED BY VERO REPS WHO I KNOW WOULD TAKE DOWN MY ITEMS IF I POSTED THEM. HA HA."

Like so:

This seller, like all the Sri Lanka weasels, keeps getting a slap on the wrist while being allowed to USE PAYPAL (who aids and abets theft and fraud) and EBAY (ditto).

Today, June 8th, the weasel posted TWO MORE BOOTLEGS:

Since THIS website has mentioned the Sri Lanka cartel so often, this crafty load of coagulated urine decided to be "clever" and list his location as...ALABAMA.

Y'all, that's almost funny. ALMOST.

It's also ALMOST funny that when eBay does get around to shutting down an auction (should a fan or, more unlikely, the actual author or publisher) hit that "report item" button for illegal digital downloads, any negatives left about the item DISAPPEAR.

So if somebody writes: "WARNING: YOU ARE BUYING A BOOTLEG, AUTHOR/PUBLISHER GET NOTHING," that vanishes.

Bidders are TRICKED (by the seller, PAYPAL and EBAY) into thinking that "resell rights" were granted, and that the author and publisher have given permission for some parasite in Sri Lanka (er, ALABAMA) to sell mobi, epub or Kindle versions of a copyrighted best seller. For $2.99 or $3.99.

Just like the termites that can destroy a house, the ants that can take down an animal, or the bacteria that can send an entire dining room's worth of people to the hospital, BOOTLEGGERS DO DAMAGE.

THIS crud was stopped for bootlegging Paula Hawkins (112430048052) and James Patterson (112048537789) and Jodi Picault (112190297839) and has stolen from Danielle Steele (112279131911) Lisa Scottoline (112375643089) and Fredril Backman (112388044036) and C.J. Box (112384224351) and John Sanford (112389212182) and Steve Berry (112389337344) and C.J. Box again (112399433926) and C.J. Box again (112394394523) going back for MONTHS.

Stuff like THIS from APRIL 27th:

How many authors, how many warnings does EBAY need before a scumbag thief and liar and fraud is SUSPENDED?

When does PAYPAL decide their Terms of Service is in violation and they are aiding and abetting a thief, liar and fraud?

Isn't it convenient that EBAY AND PAYPAL GET A PERCENTAGE OF EVERY TRANSACTION, while authors are freelancers.

Isn't it convenient that EBAY and PAYPAL personnel get paid to glance at violations and shrug, while the freelancers do NOT get paid for reporting the abuse.

That's EBAY and PAYPAL's passive-aggressive way of saying, "FUCK OFF, copyright owners, freelancers, Mom & Pop bookstores, and even Amazon who sells the legit downloads, you keep on whining and complaining and MAYBE...MAYBE we'll suspend this banana-eater. MAYBE. We wear the frilly skirts of the DMCA, and hide behind them. And guess what, we don't have to tell YOU how many complaints it would take to get action."

In fact, NOTHING really prevents EBAY and PAYPAL from keeping this SENJUHASAR asshole around forever. His name is probably not Senjuhasar, as he uses several different eye-chart names for his e-mails and his PayPal and his many eBay accounts.

Hey Random House Penguins...you, in the fancy suits with your heads in the sand, or up your ass, are you contemplating a class action lawsuit? When is enough enough? Where are your spines? Penguins have spines. So do chickens. What's your problem? Too busy taking the two-hour lunch at Starbucks and pretending you publish literature about morality?

What's the answer here?

It's for EBAY to seriously and quickly handle "REPORT ITEM" complaints and VERO complaints.

Stop giving endless chances to POONI SCUMSUKKA or whatever his name is, and his cartel of babbling, grinning maggots.

STOP allowing sellers to say "Attention eBay, I have resell rights" when they DON'T.

STOP being so smug about DMCA laws and saying, "Oh, we're not gonna call a seller on it, or ask a seller to PROVE that there's a deal between himself and authors or publishers, or to ask that he put a copy of the CONTRACT in his ad."

Do something right.

You don't need chicken-shit $2.99 and $3.99 sales where YOU people end up losing a lot more.

As soon as a Sri Lankan creep makes a sale, it means the bidder will NEVER buy on eBay but instead will buy DIRECT.

And, PAYPAL, that means you aid and abet criminal activity.

The answer is to keep the crud OFF EBAY.

Copyright is not COPY WRONG. Authors should not be the niggers of the world on eBAY. Slavery is OVER.

Shattered: EBAY CONTINUES TO SCREW AUTHORS

"Yeeee hah!" say bidders. They LOVE bootleggers giving them bargains.

Do they realize authors are being cheated? Do they care? Does EBAY?

This seller has ALL the latest books at a bargain price. Even the new one on Hillary Clinton.

It LOOKS like a legit seller. It's on a legit website. So what's wrong?

LOOK at all the HAPPY BIDDERS who bought bootlegs and are ready to buy MORE from this parasite:

What do you get from all this? That some authors and publishers have their heads up their asses?

That eBay is a criminal outfit aiding and abetting in obvious fraud, and that they make sure that "report item" takes forever, and that "phone support" says "not to worry" and does nothing?

I direct your attention to a short story called "Leinengen vs the Ants." The author of THAT story knew just what kind of damage ants, termites and parasites can do.

How EBAY and PAYPAL cheat AUTHORS via Sri Lanka scumbags

Well, what have we here?

It's a Sri Lanka scumbag PRETENDING to be in Alabama of all places. And this scumbag is bootlegging Danielle Steel, Steve Berry, John Sandford, C.L. Box, and several others.

Doesn't EBAY or PAYPAL care that they are aiding and abetting a craven creep selling counterfeits?

OF COURSE NOT.

If they can get fifty cents off this weasel's $3.99 they are ecstatic.

That's how nickel-and-dime these Internet giants really are.

If they had morality and/or guts they'd make sure the Sri Lanka cartel of scumbags was DONE.

Instead of bland form letters, aup@paypal.com would say, "Yes, we are making sure that the Sri Lanka scumbags can no longer use credit carts on PayPal."

Ebay phone support would be saying, "We are comparing notes on all these fake identities and we are going to make sure where their ISP is and block them. We will INSTANTLY suspend Sri Lanka scumbags who pretend to be in the U.S.A. and claim "Alabama" or "New York" in their ad copy. We will also make sure that when you use "report item" the item is actually REMOVED within 24 hours, so these weasels can't keep making sales."

Right now, the toothless DMCA laws in America continue to allow Internet giants to do as they please.

Ebay does not have to police their own site. Ebay can stab American authors in the back all day long, and giggle from their hideout compounds in San Jose and Draper, Utah. If they get a "report item" request for action, they can sit on it. If they get a takedown from an author or a publisher, they will reluctantly remove the item but give the seller a dozen chances to keep right on selling: "We give a warning, er, then another warning, er, then another warning, then we may restrict them for a day, then a week, then a month, then there may be a temporary suspension..."

Think the BEA convention is going to have a panel discussing this? Think the unions for writers are doing anything? Do you think that the publishers of books are any smarter than the record industry jackasses who let the music industry die and the record stores close? How many bookstore chains are thriving and healthy these days?

EBAY and PAYPAL are thriving and healthy these days. And a few foul-smelling toothless Sri Lankans are giddy with joy that they can keep right on sucking the blood out of American authors.

GREG ILES - ILES AND MILES OF LIES - A typical EBAY bootlegger

Every day, EVERY type of author is being financially raped on EBAY.

EBAY is the "just a venue" site that doesn't feel obligated to police itself.

"It's up to YOU the author to tell us if some guy does NOT own your copyright and does NOT have permission to make an obvious bootleg of your book."

That's EBAY.

They actually do have a rule against "digital delivery" of books, but again, it has to be reported to them. THEY don't have a "bot" checking for jerks who sell EPUB MOBI KINDLE EBOOK items.

Here's an item on eBay today (April 13th) with a seller's LIES ABOUT ILES.

LET'S TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT THE LYING AD COPY:

Ah, "I have full resell right or master resell right of this product."

In the virtual world, this is fine.

In the real world, this would be considered FRAUD.

This is an outright LIE.

It should be worth taking this jerk to court and suing him for everything he's got.

He's got more nerve:

"Full resell rights are Granted by the copyright owners to sell this product with Resell Rights or Master Resell Rights Granted!"

On eBay, that entitles somebody to steal.

If you hit "REPORT ITEM" and "COPYRIGHT" and point out to eBay how ridiculous this ad is, and ask eBay to literally CALL this seller on this lie, THEY WON'T DO IT.

They'll only stop this blatant abuse if the author or his publisher file a takedown (VERO) complaint, OR if a fan knows to hit "REPORT ITEM" and "DIGITAL DELIVERY."

The seller of course does "not contravene available copyright" by stealing from Greg Iles or a dozen other authors. Oh, not at all.

If a seller like this gets caught, the seller usually gets a second and third chance to do the same thing over again. "Just pick a different victim," eBay essentially suggests.

With luck a seller can keep going for many more months before suspension.

In which case, the seller shrugs and keeps all the money he's made so far. Which includes...

Of course, when The Publishing Industry throws FOUR MILLION DOLLARS at Caitlyn Jenner to write a book, you can't blame parasites for getting the idea that all book companies and all authors are rich, and therefore, shouldn't mind a little Internet thievery on one of the most popular and famous websites in the world.

Too often, THE PUBLISHING INDUSTRY IS PART OF THE PROBLEM. Where is their Digimarc or Web Sheriff to patrol eBay and find auctions that have PDF, EPUB, KINDLE or EBOOK in the title? Especially on brand new books like Greg's title?

HARPERCOLLINS, Greg's publisher, at least has a "report piracy" link on their website. This is especially helpful for the parasites on eBay who stick their books on CD-R or DVD-R media and smugly announce, "I am within eBay policy because I am not sending this file by PDF, but by regular mail." (Yes, eBay allows this insane loophole).

(UPDATE, April 23rd: HARPERCOLLINS was using Digimarc. They are now with Link-Busters.)

HARPERCOLLINS is actually in the minority of big publishers who care about piracy. Doubleday-Bantam-Dell does NOT have a "report piracy" link. Neither does Scholastic, among others. What's the message? "Oh, we're all right. We take our two hour lunches, we all make money off the fat of George Martin and E.L. James, and give four million dollar advances to idiots like Caitlyn Jenner. All is right with the world." Right, and they pay crap advances to the average writer, don't nurture new talent, and stand by while bookstores and libraries crumble. Real smart.

It's bad enough, isn't it, that conspiratorial creeps crawl around in forums, and sniff around the cracks of blogs, and weasel their way around the torrents. EBAY should not be allowing ANYONE to write ridiculous caveats and get away with it.

EBAY should not be saying "we're just a venue" but should have a "REPORT ITEM" link for: "Ridiculous Caveats." Before anyone can list an item with such a brazen lie, they should be able to prove it's NOT a lie.

"Show us your signed agreement and your licensing," is what EBAY should be saying. Because hypocrite two-faced EBAY forces rights-owners to do just that. Greg Iles can't get this item removed unless he signs up with Ebay's VERO program (vero@ebay.com) and signs a legal document stating he IS the rights owner and acting to protect his copyright or intellectual property.

The thief who bootlegs him with this sale? He is under NO obligation to sign ANYTHING or prove ANYTHING.

And he can take the money and buy his beer and pizza with any profits he's made before getting caught.

The Sri Lanka Cult of Ebay BOOTLEGGERS still Stealing

Well, well.

Here's a Sri Lanka piglet who is using TWO aliases at the same time.

Salantharik and Dimuthmendi.

Yes, the typical tongue-twisting aliases of slimy twisted scumbags located in the crotch of Rat Land.

And you thought it was Florida.

In terms of book bootlegging, Sri Lanka is Cancer Central, and eBay, of course, does little to eradicate it.

What would it take to eradicate the problem?

For one thing, book companies run by people who don't have their heads up their asses and their hands on the expense account vouchers.

Yeah, Random House Penguins, that's YOU. And Scholastic. Too busy with your two hour lunches, are you? Can't assign some intern to file a few takedowns?

The excuse is, what, exactly?

Meanwhile Salantharik and Dimuthmendi (same piglet) runs the SAME ad copy with the same lines about how these stolen books will be sent to the lucky bidder via email.

Of course it would be helpful if busy authors took a few minutes to look out for themselves.

That certainly applies to the ones who give the Sri Lanka piglets the most profits: J.K. Rowling, Stephen King and that silly woman who writes all those lousy "cozy mystery" books about cake.

With a little diligence, there would be no Sri Lanka piglets crawling around eBay every day, doing BUY IT NOW auctions.

And if eBay suspended the Sri Lanka piglets after ONE violation, and if PayPal revoked the accounts for them, the problem would be solved entirely.

The Achilles heel with these bastards is that they have to explain to bidders that these are eBooks, and that they will be delivered via email or cloud (which, fortunately, IS against eBay rules).

Unfortunately, the Sri Lanka piglets (probably only two or three creeps and their families and friends with the multiple accounts) play the merry-go-round game. When Salantharik and Dimuthmendi get a scolding and their items removed, they just go find another alias they haven't used for a while, and put the stuff right back again.

If all the aliases were suspended, and if there were more complaints directly to eBay's VERO department (which is in charge of copyright takedowns) the problem would be over.

Among the current aliases (with a sample auction number) that eBay and PayPal haven't bothered to suspend:

The sad thing is that these Sri Lankan piglets provide PayPal and eBay with maybe a fifty cent profit per auction. That's not a lot is it? Not when you realize the consequence is less new authors being given a decent advance, less bookstores around, less libraries in business. There's no need for eBay and PayPal to be so greedy or short-sighted or arrogant.
